Funding Options

EnhanceABILITY is registered to provide occupational therapy and speech pathology services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Better Start Initiative, Helping Children With Autism Package, Medicare, and major private health insurance (if you have taken out extras cover that includes occupational therapy and speech pathology).

Better Start and Helping Children With Autism (HCWA)

 

Medicare

Better Start Initiative

The initiative assists children with sight and hearing impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Fragile X syndrome.

A child with an eligible disability requires a referral from a GP or medical specialist for the following:

  • up to 4 assessment sessions with an occupational therapist and/or speech pathologist for a child aged under 13 years
  • up to 20 treatment sessions with an occupational therapist and/or speech pathologist for a child aged under 15 years provided a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday.

These are the total number of sessions available to each child and are not an annual entitlement.

Helping Children with Autism Initiative

The initiative assists children with a diagnosis of autism or other pervasive developmental disorder.

A child with an eligible disability requires a referral from a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for the following:

  • up to 4 assessment sessions with an occupational therapist and/or speech pathologist for a child aged under 13 years
  • up to 20 treatment sessions with an occupational therapist and/or speech pathologist for a child aged under 15 years (provided a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday).

These are the total number of sessions available to each child and are not an annual entitlement.

Chronic Disease Management Plan (Previously Called Enhanced Primary Care)

This Plan is available for those children with a chronic condition, defined as a medical condition that is ongoing for at least six months. With an eligible referral from a GP your child can access 5 sessions of Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology per calendar year.

Private Health Insurance

EnhanceABILITY therapists are registered with private health insurers. Please check with your insurer to ensure you have the appropriate Extras Cover to be able to claim for services.
