Do you want to know more about how to support someone who uses AAC?

TechTalkers® builds your skills and confidence using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) so you can support a person to achieve communication potential. The program is informative, interactive, practical and a chance to meet others who support people who use AAC. Online and face to face options are available. We also provide condensed training for support teams.

Who is it for?
Parents, carers and support people of those already using AAC who want to learn how to better support the person
Other people in the person’s life who use AAC with the person (eg other family members, support workers, teaching/day program teams)

What type of AAC system do you need to be using?
It doesn’t matter which one! The information is useful for all AAC systems.
If you are already working with another speech pathologist you can still participate in the program. We can work with your therapist and provide them with assessment information.

What’s the time commitment?
A pre-assessment with you, the person you support and our speech pathologists (either face to face or online)
8 hours of online training as part of a group with other communication partners if a suitable group is chosen, otherwise the training can be delivered individually
A catch up at the end with all group participants (optional)

How is it funded?
The program is able to be purchased through a person’s NDIS capacity building funding.
